Equine Champions For Christ hosted a youth roping clinic May 30, 31 & June 1, 2008. World Champion Team Ropers, David Key and Kory Koontz, instructed the group at the Wildfire Arena in Salado, Texas.

The amazing thing is that there were 160 entries for the camp. They were asked to write an essay telling why they wanted to be chosen to attend the camp. Since there were more letters than available spots, the letters were sent out be prayed over, and 38 kids were chosen. The amount of interest shown prompted the founders to schedule repeat camps to allow those not chosen to be able to attend a camp soon.

The kids letters and essays conveyed deep feelings about the sport of roping as well as their Christian growth and aspirations to meld the two. The camp turned out better and more beneficial than Kenny had ever imagined. It was such a great triumph that Kenny himself said, "God just seemed to take over and the experience was more than even I could have ever imagined."
